What are writers for?

Making connections, expanding the mind.

Quill and parchment or touch typing?

Touch typing.

Required beverage while editing?

Water or herbal tea.

Describe your imagination.

All over the place. I imagine how the world would be if we were kinder. But I often imagine what it feels like to be a helpless animal in a bad situation (factory farm or experimental lab)…the images constantly gnaw at me.

Anatomy of the Reader

Where’s your favorite place to read?

On the couch in my office; I’m mostly uninterrupted there.

Have you ever read one of your books for pleasure?

Never! I go straight into edit mode, no matter how long ago I wrote the book.

Uncustomary Traditions

Favorite places: my bed – coziest, most comfortable place in the world

Weaknesses: I can be too empathic…to the point of feeling deep, deep anguish

Believes in: the evolutionary impulse to get better at being human

Refuses to: have a life where I wake up to an alarm clock everyday
